A Holiday Dinner at Jo & Oliver’s

Heading over to Jo and Oliver’s for a get together is something we always look forward to especially during the holidays.  We know we will be treated like family in their warm and inviting home and served a special gourmet meal prepared by Oliver.

Delicious food and thought-provoking conversation

This year’s dinner was just as special as previous year soirees with delicious food and thought-provoking conversation.

Discussion topics ranged from politics 😠😠, cultures – Iranian and Indian, Native American and English, to the Netflix original series Longmire, states Wyoming, North Dakota, to service dogs and taxes! Topics were so varied that I sometimes thought “Um, how did we get to this topic?

Food and conversation

Did I mention that Oliver is a gourmet cook? Oliver is a connoisseur of good food and a gourmet chef!

As expected Oliver out -did himself with his culinary skills on this evening. We loved everything on the menu.

I always come away with a new recipe that I want to try. Here is a look at the menu for the evening.

Appetizers:
Assorted Cheese and Crackers

Dinner:
Butternut Squash, Apples & Leeks Soup with Apple Cider Sour Cream and Chives
Prime Ribs
Eggplant Moussaka
Mashed Potato and Cauliflower Gratin
Roasted Root Vegetables with Rosemary

Dessert:
Dark Chocolate Cake from Fleur de Cocoa
Coffee/Tea

The roasted root veggies were in a league of their own.! Here is a question that Oliver proposed to the kids “Guess what vegetables are in the roasted vegetable dish?”

The answer: Parsnips, rutabaga, carrots, celery root, radish, potatoes, onions, and leeks!

Moussaka and short ribs – these tasted amazing!  I didn’t have the ribs but Hitesh said it was mouth-watering good.

A perfect evening spent with dear friends.

We loved spending a beautiful evening with Jo and Oliver. Most of all it was wonderful to hang out with dear friends 🤗🤗 with delectable food and great company. What more could we ask for to start off the New Year?
