June in the Garden

Summer finally arrived in our area in June 🌞 with temperatures warming up into the 70s, 80 and for a few days even in the 90s.  In the garden the heat brought into bloom all types of lillies – Asiatic lillies, daylillies, calla lillies, and oriental lillies.

The first flush of rose blooms are over as are nasturtiums which have already set seed and which I pruned down and collected the seeds. Dahlia tubers started leafing out and our veggie plants are getting nice and bushy too. The heat is bringing into bloom so many perennials and plants such as lavenders, fuchsias, carnations, geraniums, and succulents too. Here is a look at my June garden.

Veggies and dahlias getting bushy by the day.

Mint

Can I just say that I love mint! I love the fresh green color and always perky personality of this herb 🌿.  This little guy was a runner and I plucked him up and plopped him in a little pot. I couldnt get over how pretty he looks!

  1. OMG ! i felt like i am in Paradise . Such a lovely Gallery of Colorful Flowers like Monet Paintings . Dolly , Did some body say you have a Green Thumb ? I will go one step and say you have a Golden Heart for flowers can relate to the Music in your soul.

  2. You have that black sage too! We just planted more at work. It is a cultivar, but looks very much like the native black sage, with more colorful blue flowers. I really like it because it smells so familiar. It also lives in the area around Almaden. It is a very homey aroma! I know it is not as pretty as your lilies and those awesome pelargoniums, but it happens to be one of my favorites.

  3. Beautiful garden. I wonder how many hours you or your gardener spend per week ? I enjoyed looking at the photos. With regards, DS

    1. Thank you so much 😀. Truly I spend maybe 1-2 hours a day, its the miracle of an automatic drip system that waters everything on schedule that saves me time!!!! I mostly plant, deadhead, fertilize, and fuss with the plants 😀
