Scandinavian Christmas by Trine Hahnemann is an outstanding cookbook that I love to peruse through over the holidays and over the winter months. I love all the spectacular photography of a warm winter kitchen spilling over with baked goods, candles, and arts and crafts that are not cloyingly over-the top – but rather tastefully understated, yet warm and inviting at the same time.

The number one reason I love this book is for its spectacular photography. It’s all the gorgeous soothing happy photos of nature and beautiful treats and savories that keeps me looking through this book again and again and again every year when the temperatures dip down and the days are cold and rainy. The fact that the recipes are simple, made with wholesome ingredients adds to the allure of this beautiful cookbook.

For those of us who like cookbooks with beautiful photos of food right next to the recipe, this cookbook is perfect. Every recipe has a gorgeous photo showing us what we can expect in our final product. At the same time, Trine is also quick to point out that cooking and baking is meant to be fun, so if it didn’t turn out perfect it’s okay AND if we want to nibble along the way that’s okay too.

Somehow the nature and recipe photos in this cookbook always perks me up and gets me motivated to make something delicious.

With a variety of recipes ranging from sweets, candies, breads, drinks and savories, you get a nice selection of foods to make for any occasion.

For a feel-good cookbook that will have you appreciating the bare-winter nature outside and have you wanting to cook something delicious inside, Scandinavian Christmas by Trine Hahnemann is the perfect book to peruse through this winter.
