Oh my! This is the season for Christmas cookies! My great grandmother used to make several different kinds that she learned how to make from her many friends over many decades. Sadly, none of the recipes were written down. My sister now makes them by memory, just like our great grandmother used to do. Most were Italian. Others were Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican, Greek and so on. It is amazing how descendants of people who had left their respective homelands generations ago still maintain such traditions and spread them around. Some of my great grandmother’s recipes might be lost, but others will be added as they go along.
