Friday Flowers. Flowering Plants at Half Moon Bay Nursery

Happy Friday! Today I’d like to share with you some happy pictures of a nursery trip I made to my favorite nursery Half Moon Bay Nursery in Half Moon Bay, California.

My twins started school this week, which means my schedule has freed up and is more predictable now.  The twins are seniors this year, I can’t believe it! One more year and then they are off to college!  But I’m not going to delve on that right now as it does make me a little sad, but rather I’d like to share with you some happy pictures of a recent nursery trip I made to my favorite nursery Half Moon Bay Nursery in Half Moon Bay, California.

I’ve been busy all summer long with travel and shuttling the kids to their various summer jobs and activities that I barely had time to do any gardening.

I’ve been just maintaining what I already have by watering, pruning and deadheading my plants.  A trip to the nursery didn’t even fit into my summer equation.

But now with more time on my hands I couldn’t wait to stop by the nursery!  The first week of school and I already had time to make an indulgent weekday trip all the way to Half Moon Bay to my favorite nursery there – Half Moon Bay Nursery.

I was hoping to still find their summer flowering plants such as dahlias, roses, and begonias, but alas, the dahlias were gone for the season, as were their roses. A few remnants of their famous giant begonias were still available though.

Half Moon Bay Nursery never disappoints as there is always something blooming in this magical place.  Here is a look at what’s blossoming in late August at Half Moon Bay Nursery.

Lots of geranium cuttings were big and buxom as ever at the nursery.  Maybe it’s the signs of fall in the air, as I seemed to have gravitated towards the orange colored geraniums and dark burgundy pelargoniums to bring home.  And how can I resist those giant begonias?  Picked up a couple of vibrant orange and dark red begonias too.

A trip to the nursery is always a treat.  With nature in vibrant colors in abundance at the nursery it’s so easy to feel happy here.  I’m looking forward to my next trip to purchase some fall veggie plants which I will get from our local nurseries close by.  In the meantime, I’m enjoying the end of summer and looking forward to some cool fall weather.

  1. Half Moon Bay Nursery has always been an excellent nursery. I delivered their citrus trees in the early 1990s, and their rhododendrons and companion plants in the late 1990s.
