I’ve been to Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California so many times that I’ve lost count. But somehow I’ve never visited the gardens in the summer. Hard to believe, even for me! I usually stop by Filoli Gardens in the spring for their Daffodil Daydreams Extravaganza, or in early summer around May for a Mother’s Day girls afternoon out. I’ve never gone to Filoli Gardens in the peek of summer – i.e. July until this year.Continue reading “FIght for a just cause; LOve your fellow man; LIve a good life.” FILOLI Gardens in the Summer
On Father’s Day we took Hitesh on a morning excursion for a cherry picking trip to Andy’s Orchard in Morgan Hill, California.
My sister Banu who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has a lovely home and a beautiful garden. Banu’s garden is lush and emerald green. It’s the greenest garden I’ve ever seen. As Banu explained to me, that’s because of the high humidity in Philadelphia, and the constant bouts of rain showers they get sporadically off and on all summer long. In fact it is so humid that she hardly turns the sprinklers on and can go for weeks without turning them on sometimes. Can you believe it? For a California gardener like myself, no sprinklers or watering means the death of our gardens here, especially in the summer. Continue reading Banu’s Emerald Green Philadelphia Garden
Our family was invited to friends Pallavi and Parag’s home for dinner one weekend and what a feast we were treated to. I haven’t had a North Indian dinner like this in a very long time. So many varieties of vegetarian dishes all prepared at home by Pallavi and her Mom were a feast for the senses. Continue reading A North Indian Vegetarian Feast at Pallavi & Parag’s

This homemade fresh pasta recipe comes to you directly from the heart of Tuscany, Italy via our friends Dave and Rose. A pasta recipe with just two ingredients? Yes, that’s exactly what this pasta recipe calls for. Just two ingredients! Never ever did I think I could make fresh pasta at home, and that too have it be so easy. This is an awesome recipe that I got from my friend Rose who actually got this recipe first hand from a local chef in Tuscany, Italy.
After days and weeks of solid good rain here in Northern California, we finally see some sunshine 😊🌞. It seriously feels like spring – Not! Birds are chirping as if it is spring, little do they know that rain and cool temperatures are coming back very soon – within a few days 🌧.
I was invited to a holiday tea back in December at my dear friend Radhika’s place and what a fun time we had. Radhika’s home was beautifully decked for the holidays and so warm and welcoming that I just didn’t want to leave on this cool winter afternoon.
For tea Radhika had made a delicious warm feta cheese bruschetta. Here is a look at this simple yet decadent winter-inspired tea. Continue reading Feta Cheese Bruschetta with Thyme & Red Onions
