February in the Garden, 2019

February has had crazy wild weather here in the Bay Area.  Cold, rain, and even snow blanketed our hills and mountains this February.  We haven’t had snow in our lower elevations in over 9 years! We went from cold temperatures in the 30s to warmer temperatures in the 60s all in just a few weeks.  Despite the ups and down in temperature the garden did really well. Lots and lots of rainy and stormy days in February made for our gardens not complaining one bit. Here is a look at how the garden faired in February.

My azaleas were blooming away happily and I even see color on a few freesia bulbs.

Red freesia shyly showing her color.

Daffodils have started blooming. These are the first swaths to show color. Looking forward to a stellar daffodil bloom this year.

A few snowdrops blooming here and there.

Portraits of Blue – Rosemary, Muscari and Dutch Iris showing off their beautiful blue blooms.

Tulips at our local Trader Joe’s were looking lusciously gorgeous around Valentine’s Day!!

Nothing like a beautiful bowl of fruit and beautiful bunch of flowers to brighten up anyone’s day.

Cranesbill geranium, mint, and nasturtiums ready for spring.

Hope you had a fabulous February!
Wishing you a marvelous March!
