April was a perfect spring like month for us here in the Bay Area. Warm temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and even 80s meant that the garden was waking up and starting to put on its stellar floral show. However cooler temperatures in the 50s and some 40s meant that the garden wasn’t fully awake yet. Looking at theses garden pics one may wonder “Your garden looks pretty fully in bloom right now.” To this my response would be “Wait till May when the entire garden is in full bloom!” Here is a look at what started blooming in my April Bay Area garden.
Azaleas and Camellias
Pelargonium and geraniums
Columbines
Nasturtiums
Fuchias
Chives. I love using darling chive flowers in salads and omelets
Roses. A few bushes already blooming.
My favorite climbing rose Berries and Cream always puts on a stellar show in early spring
I couldn’t resist making a couple of rose bouquets with my first flush of spring booms
Bearded Iris just started blooming a couple days ago
Hope you had an awesome April. Looking forward to a marvelous May!
Countdown to Mother’s Day! Sunday, May 13th
May is one of my favorite months. The garden puts on a spectacular show and May is also the month when we celebrate Mother’s Day. This year Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 13th. In honor of one of my favorite celebrations I will be doing my second year of Countdown to Mother’s Day with a share a day with ideas for colorful, delicious and beautiful desserts, drinks and savory dishes, along with a couple of book reviews that I hope any Mom will like.
