July in the garden. Lillies, dahlias and other stuff.

July arrived with a big bang of summer heat in our area.  Temperatures went up into the 80s and even in the high 90s.  But surprisingly my garden held up well, I only guess it’s because of all the giant trees in our garden that provide welcome shade to plants and people alike. The summer heat enticed all my lilies and dahlias to burst into bloom. I did have lots of other perennials blooming but my eyes and camera kept gravitating towards dahlias and lilies. When lilies and dahlias are in bloom it’s hard to focus on anything else – sorry other beautiful perennials.  Here is a look at how my garden did in July.

Oriental Lilies, Orientpet, Trumpet Lilies.

A few closeup shots of lilies

Loads of dahlia buds ready to open.

Giant dahlia showing off its bloom.

Closeup shots of dahlias

Harvested a few blooms to enjoy indoors.

Begonias. Yes, they are blooming too.

Our Anna apple tree with loads of apples ready to turn rosy pink.

Hydrangeas loving the summer

Glorious Gladiolas blooming as well

Roses on their second flush of blooms.

Tomatoes starting to ripen.

Couldn’t resist picking a few ripe fruit

Kale and herbs doing well. Picked a bounty to deliver to a couple of friends.

Flower picking in the summer garden with my neices and daughter Rani.

And lastly, our little owl in the courtyard is back! He left for a couple of months and I really wanted to show the owl to my little neices when they were here. Well, he came back in end of July 😊.

Hope you had a jubilant July.
Looking forward to an awesome August!
