Picasso Museum & the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, Spain

Here in the beautiful Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is the Picasso Museum which showcases over one thousand of Picasso’s paintings from his youth to his adult life.  This museum is a great way to see the talent of Picasso from the age of 5 to the time he died in 1973 at the age of 91.

What I love about this museum is the inconspicuous nature of the building and the location.

Situated at a corner of the Gothic Quarter the museum is a delight to visit.  Not too crowded, cool and beautiful, the museum gives one a glimpse of the immensely talented Pablo Picasso at all stages of his life.

Though we mostly think of Picasso’s contemporary works, his extremely artistic talent is obvious from his early works of art that were more classic in style.

From a very young age Pablo Picasso’s father who was an art teacher saw the potential in his talented son  and encouraged him to pursue it.  Picasso painted this painting below of his Father at the age of 8! Can you believe it!

Below is a self portrait that Picasso did at the age of 13!

Included in this museum are not just paintings but his other works of art that include sculptures, drawings, sketches, and photography.

Many of Picasso’s works are on display in his museum in Paris which was his home away from home; but here in Barcelona we get a glimpse of Picasso early works from the time he was a young boy to his early 20s on till his adult life.

For a stress free art experience to see the works of one of the most talented artists of our time, head to the beautiful Picasso Museum in Barcelona.

We discovered the Gothic Quarter towards the end of our stay in Barcelona, and we loved it so much that we were considering extending our holiday by another day just so we could continue to explore this beautiful artistic colony.
