Eat Better Not Less. 100 Healthy and Satisfying Recipes by Nadia Damaso

Eat Better Not Less. 100 Healthy and Satisfying Recipes by Nadia Damaso is a cookbook I received as a Christmas present from my daughter Anjali a few months ago.

Lots of beautiful pictures. The carrot on the end of the stick

Anjali presented it to me with the caveat that though the majority of the book was vegetarian, it wasn’t hundred percent vegetarian, but she thought I would really like it anyway because it had lots of beautiful pictures (my daughter knows me well 😀).  I am such a sucker for pretty photos and gorgeous presentation 😃.  Anjali asked me after I opened her present

Don’t you love the cover? Isn’t it so pretty? I know you like books with beautiful photos. This one has lots of pretty pictures and the recipes are healthy too.

I tell you, on a cold December morning opening a present with such beautiful pink and green colors and fresh colourful vegetables, it did bring a smile to my face 😊.

Eat better Not Less

Eat Better Not Less is a wonderful cookbook for those of us looking for creative ways to eat healthier and feel full and satisfied doing it.  This book is not a lecture on how to eat, or what to eat, or when to eat, or how to live our life. In fact, the introduction is where Nadia goes into her philosophy of eating and that prose is just six pages long and written in an easy to understand and relatable way.  She doesn’t advocate removing any food group or completely eliminating pizza, French fries or steak. Rather, what she does give us is a beautiful collection of recipes that utilize whole foods packed with nutrients to help us feel full and satiated so that we don’t reach for that junk food when we are starving in-between meals.

If you have a sweet tooth like I do 😋 and want to eat healthy, then this cookbook is for you.

Half the book is filled with breakfast smoothies and sweet breakfast bowls and there is a separate section on desserts too. All made with wholesome, healthy ingredients such as whole grains, fruits and nuts. “What? I can have my dessert and eat better not less?”  That is the premise of this cookbook. Eat healthy foods that are flavorful and good for the body, and with this combination of characteristics we can actually eat better until we are satisfied.

If you ask me what the best part of this cookbook is?  It’s the gorgeous photography.

With mouthwatering photos of wholesome foods the age-old saying “We eat with our eyes” is so true with this cookbook. If food looks this beautiful it’s hard to resist eating it, and if that food is good for us too?  That is a win/win combination.

Eating better not less can be delicious AND healthy

Having perused through this book from start to finish one thing is obvious; eating better not less can be delicious AND healthy. I mean who can resist breakfast smoothies like Dreamy Cashew & Banana Ice Cream with Strawberry Coulis or a  Blueberry Quinoa Banana Ice Cream? With breakfast that looks this good how can anyone resist? Even if it is healthy!

Breakfast bowls that are made with oats and granola and plenty of whole grains and fruits, these are recipes that are easy to make and fun to make too.

From nut butters to various types of nuts, to the different types of milk products and natural sweeteners, Eat More Not Less gives a comprehensive list of all-types of wholesome healthy ingredients that cater to all diets from vegetarian, vegan, to just plain “I want to eat healthy diet.”

The book has suggestions on how to keep a well-stocked pantry with healthy ingredients that make it easy to whip up a quick smoothie or a filling breakfast bowl or a satisfying lunch.

The chapter on Main Dishes & Snacks. Perfect to Fill You Up! is so beautiful and colorful that it’s hard not to make something from this chapter.

With gorgeous looking dishes like Black Rice Paella with Shiitake & Wheatgrass Aioli even I who hear wheatgrass and go 😝 yuck, get tempted to make this dish. The photo looked that good.

Other recipes in this chapter include gorgeous looking dishes with beautiful vegetables, silken tofu, caponata, spicy noodles, and even pizza.

Recipes like fresh & creamy asparagus, peach salad with pancetta, and beef tenderloin plum blackberry sauce with garlic mushrooms, make even a vegetarian like myself want to cook these dishes.

Eat Better Not Less. 100 Healthy and Satisfying Recipes by Nadia Damaso is a wonderful cookbook for anyone looking to have fun making a few healthy dishes that are beautiful and delicious. Even if cooking colorful and healthy is just on a Sunday morning, give this book a lookover.

Eat Better Not Less. 100 Healthy and Satisfying Recipes by Nadia Damaso is available on Amazon and at local bookstores.
