Hello and Happy Weekend! Today I’d like to share pics of the Mombasa Farmer’s Market in Mombasa, Kenya. A hundred year old structure that houses local farmer’s produce vendors.
No seafood, no poultry, no meat; just produce of vegetables, fruits and spices
The Mombasa Market has been around for over 100 years providing extremely affordable produce to locals from local farmers. Housed in a blue lattice walled covered structure, the Mombasa Market provides a permanent promenade for farmer’s to sell their produce. Open 7 days a week, this is a popular market for affordable produce.

Avocados as big as mangoes!
Folks, avocados grow in abundance in Kenya and though the locals don’t eat the fruit, they have found a market abroad for the coveted avocado. Here avocados are as huge as mangoes! I took pics with avocados next to mangoes so you could see the sheer size of these giant avocados!
Fruits in exotic colors 🥭
Wonder what this conical shaped basket is used for?
It’s used to squeeze coconut milk from coconut flesh. The locals cut tender coconut and place it inside and then squeeze the basket to let the juices come out through the basket.
Got to get me a basket or two 😃

Deepa my sister-in-law has been making her weekly farmers market trip for a few years now, that she knows the vendors
This guy was chatting with us that he remembers my mother-in-law coming every week, he was a young boy then. My Mother-in-law had been coming to the market for over 50 years! She passed away couple years ago at the age of 84.
