Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France

Hello and Happy Friday! I hope you had a great week and are looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Today I’d like to share pics of my visit to Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France.

Monet’s Garden in Giverny

The most iconic paintings of nature painted by Monet were all inspired by his summer home in Giverny, France. Here Monet created a garden that became the inspiration for many of his world famous paintings.

The canals at Monet’s garden and the unlikely friendship that created them

Here is a little tidbit I found out about Monet’s garden and the streams that run through this massive property. It seems Monet was a good friend of the Prime Minister of France Georges Clemenceau. Clemenceau served as the Prime Minister of France during World War I.

They met when they were young, and their friendship grew over time. Both shared a passion for art and beauty and were such good friends that Clemenceau would often spend holidays and weekends at Monet’s home in Giverny. It seems one time Monet was lamenting that he would love to have a stream going through his garden to take it to the next level. Guess what? The Prime Minister made it happen by re routing water from the river Siene into streams onto Monet’s garden!

The charming village of Giverny

One and half hour trip outside of Paris this is a wonderful day excursion to a charming quiet village that seems like a step back in time.
