Espero que tuvieran un un buen fin de semana.

Hello Everyone! Happy Tuesday!
Hope you had a fabulous weekend.

We had a great weekend as we had just returned from a wonderful Spring Break holiday in beautiful Punta Mita, Mexico.

Spectacular sunsets, beautiful beaches, shopping for local arts and crafts, AND we even got to release baby turtles into the ocean!

This was one memorable Spring Break we will have in our hearts forever!!

Here is a look at a few pictures we took of the gorgeous sunsets, the beaches, the charming town of Puerto Vallarta and baby turtles – the baby turtles deserve an article of their own! Stay tuned for a lot more amazing pics of these little turtle babies!!!

Monday evening.  We arrived in Puerto Vallarta in the evening and drove 45 minutes north out of town to the little fishing village of Punta Mita, Mexico.  Once we checked in to our hotel we couldn’t wait to get into the warm Pacific Ocean!

The sunset was spectacular on our first night in Punta Mita!

Tuesday: Spent the entire day on the beach 😀🏖🏖.

Tuesday evening gave us another dreamy sunset, more silvery this time.

Wednesday. Our most memorable day yet!  We got to release baby turtles into the ocean at Sunset! More pics to come in my next post!!

Thursday. Day trip to Puerto Vallarta. Shopping for local arts and crafts.

Local Mexican Talavera Pottery!! My kind of place!!

A few pics of the charming town of Puerto Vallarta.

I love this beautiful city with its cobblestoned streets, hilly terrain and beautiful serene boardwalk. Truly a humble charming place this is.

One of the locals pointed us to a crocodile basking in the sun in this little river!

After a fun filled excursion to Puerto Valarta we came back to our hotel and were welcomed with a beautiful blue sunset.

Friday. Spent the day at the beach and ended our holiday with a gorgeous pink Sunset.

Saturday.  Heading home. We had the most amazing time in the tiny fishing village of Punta Mita, Mexico!!! Can’t wait to come back!

Que tengan una gran semana!
Wishing you an awesome week ahead!

A little about Punta Mita.

Punta Mita is located 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta which is a popular tourist destination and a favorite port city for many cruise lines.

The little fishing village of Punta Mita is situated in an area called Riviera Nayarit off the Pacific Coast which has a multitude of small towns dotted throughout the coastline. For a long time it was the town of  Sayulita that attracted a slew of West Coast surfers and Europeans  who were in the know of some of the best surfing conditions in the world.

For all you fans of the show Bachelor, my daughter Rani informed me that Sayulita is where the show Bachelor in Paradise is filmed and where they rent a beautiful villa for their bachelor and bachelorettes.  Punta Mita is a 30-minute car ride from from Sayulita.

For the most part Punta Mita is known locally as a tiny fishing village where fishing is their way of life. Punta Mita became popular when luxury villa developers and high end hotels discovered this fishing enclave and its pristine beaches and opened a handful of resorts here. It is no surprise that Punta Mita is a fishing village.

During our recent visit here in April we were swimming with thousands and thousands of sardines both big and small 🐟🐟🐟!!!  There were so many fishes here that pelicans and seagulls in the hundreds were diving in and out of the water to get part of the fishing action.

In fact we saw fish being thrown on shore by the crashing waves. We even saw a school of sardines washed on shore and a bunch of kids including my own started scooping them with buckets to throw them back into the ocean so they could survive 😀🐟🐟🐟!!

Punta Mita is the perfect place to see  migrating humpback whales between the months of December and March of each year.

There are so many whales migrating that it becomes a common sight to see the flumes of these giant whales off the coastline every few minutes! When we visited Punta Mita last time in late November we went on a whale-watching trip and sailed literally next to these giant whales 🐋🐋!!

Punta Mita is also the nesting ground for sea turtles 🐢🐢🐢.

Every year Mama turtles come on shore and lay their eggs in the thousands and then go back into the ocean, letting nature take care of the eggs getting hatched and the little baby turtles finding their way into the ocean.

Because the survival rate of these little babies in in the mere 1% a non-profit environmental group run by volunteers here in Punta Mita scours the beaches looking for these deposits of turtle eggs to salvage and help them hatch and then release them back into the ocean.

Punta Mita is the perfect place for folks who want to relax in the quiet beauty of the Pacific Ocean and it’s warm waters on the Mexican riviera.

If you are looking for serene beaches, spectacular sunsets and the added excitement of seeing whales and sea turtles then this destination is for you. For a not too crowded, still a sleepy little town with few tourists Punta Mita, Mexico is the one.
