Christmas Dinner 2019. Lunar New Year Inspired Vegetarian Menu

Back in December we had made an Asian inspired vegetarian menu for our Christmas dinner and that menu was absolutely delicious!

Fun Family Cooking Time for Christmas Dinner

When we were deciding on our Christmas dinner the kids requested an Asian menu and wanted to try out some new recipes for the occasion.  As per any new recipe they want to try, for me it’s always about “How easy is it to make?” and “Are the ingredients easy to find?”  Well, the kids did great!

The menu we finalized on included two appetizers, a soup, main course, and something sweet. We had steamed and pan fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, and a noodle main dish.

The best part of this menu is getting the whole family involved kids and adults.

So go ahead and delegate, have one person make the wontons, the other make the soup, and one of you make the noodles, this makes for a fun family time together in the kitchen!

Homemade Fortune Cookies Too!

What did we have for dessert you’re wondering?  My eldest Sri who always gets assigned dessert made fortune cookies, from scratch! Yes! She found a recipe online and asked Anjali one of my twins to look up funny fortune cookie questions to bake inside each cookie.  The cookies turned out great!

This is a fun project and the cookies are very entertaining at the dinner table! We made two fortune cookies for each of us, one to open before dinner and one to open after dinner. With hilarious questions inside each cookies to ask the family you maybe surprised at what answers you get!
