This caprese salad is the kind where one gets a surprise with the first bite and maybe even the second bite – like a surprise in the palate.

About the recipe
When I made this feta/mozzarella combination in a caprese salad I was thinking that Feta with its briny tangy fresh flavor would make the perfect accompaniment to the milder fresh mozzarella cheese.

The caprese is unexpected in that you don’t know what you are getting when you take a piece – since both fresh feta and fresh mozzarella are the same color and look similar, its hard to tell them apart creating an unexpected flavor surprise when eaten.

The way to accomplish this is to alternate the cheese slices on the platter, giving everyone a chance to try each flavorful cheese.

When the family had this appetizer they were pleasantly surprised and they loved it 😋.

I have everything except the tomatoes!!🙄. Will have to dash to the market or to my neighbors…😬.
Beautiful dish!😍
Would love to hear how this turned out! Have fun making the feta mozzarella salad.
I’m making one of these later this week!. Thank you for the idea!
Awesome! Happy salad making 😊
Thank you. I got the mozzarella and feta cheese when I shopped for groceries this morning. We have an abundance of cherry tomatoes right now, so that is perfect! Thanks you so much!
I would love to hear how you and your daughter liked the feta and mozzarella combination with the tomatoes.
I am still waiting for my tomatoes to ripen we have had a mild summer with temps in the 80s with a few 90s here and there. Both my tomatoes and dahlias like the heat and usually I have to wait till August for both to bloom and ripen.
Definitely! I’m making it today. August will be here soon 🙂
My girl wasn’t at home when I made the salad, but I cooked for one of my friends, and he loved it. I made it with your recipe, but on two individual plates. On my friends plate I added meat on the side. On my plate I added some avocado on the side. The salad was wonderful, I will definitely make it again. I don’t think I ever used feta and mozzarella in the same dish before, not that I can recall. I loved the combination. Thank you!
