The Masai Blanket – Shuka

No trip to Kenya is complete without a masai blanket purchased to bring back home. This colorful garb also called shuka is as traditional as it gets in Kenya. Though worn mostly by the Masai tribe who predominantly live in the Masai Mara region of Kenya, the shuka has become a popular garment all over the country.

Safari Day 2. Balloon Safari, Bush Breakfast & the River Crossing

On day 2 of our safari we opted for a balloon safari over the Mara plains. This is a one hour hot air balloon ride over the Mara followed by breakfast in the wide outdoors – also called a bush breakfast.

We arrived in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. on Saturday, July 10th. It was a cool balmy cloudy day when we arrived in the evening. With temperatures in the mild 60s and a light drizzle, coming from hot California I actually loved the cool temps.

Picasso Museum & the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, Spain

Here in the beautiful Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is the Picasso Museum which showcases over one thousand of Picasso’s paintings from his youth to his adult life.  This museum is a great way to see the talent of Picasso from the age of 5 to the time he died in 1973 at the age of 91.
