A Holiday Dinner at Jo & Oliver’s

Heading over to Jo and Oliver’s for a get together is something we always look forward to especially during the holidays.  We know we will be treated like family in their warm and inviting home and served a special gourmet meal prepared by Oliver. With such a lovely couple as hosts it’s no wonder we look forward to this dinner every year.

This year’s holiday dinner was just as special as previous year soirees with delicious food and thought-provoking conversation. Discussion topics on this evening were ranging from politics 😠😠, cultures – Iranian and Indian, Native American and English, to the Netflix original series Longmire, Wyoming, North Dakota, to service dogs and taxes! Topics were so varied that I sometimes thought “Um, how did we get to this topic?

Did I mention that Oliver is a gourmet cook? Oliver is a connoisseur of good food and a gourmet chef! As expected Oliver out -did himself with his culinary skills on this evening.  All of us – kids, Hitesh and I included loved everything Oliver made. My hats off to you Oliver! I always come away with a new recipe that I want to try after having his meals. Here is a look at the menu for the evening.

I look forward to making the soup, and the cauliflower mashed potatoes 😋.

The roasted root veggies were in a league of their own. This I’m making sooner than later.

Here is a question that Oliver proposed to the kids “Guess what vegetables are in the roasted vegetable dish?”

The answer: Parsnips, rutabaga, carrots, celery root, radish, potatoes, onions, and leeks!

Moussaka and short ribs – these tasted amazing!  I didn’t have the ribs but Hitesh said it was mouth-watering good.
