It’s spring and around here spring keeps treating us with gorgeous weather (60s, 70,s and even 80s) and then cheats us with cooler temperatures. What this means for the garden is that some flowers have started blooming including a few roses, but not enough flowers are blooming yet for me to leave a few flowers on the bush and cut some to make a nice big springtime bouquet. April was a perfect spring like month for us here in the Bay Area. Warm temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and even 80s meant that the garden was waking up and starting to put on its stellar floral show. Here is a look at what started blooming in my April Bay Area garden.
This was one spectacular wildflower excursion. Austin in spring is a wonderful place to visit and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is the city’s springtime crowning jewel.
With all the warm weather we had in February my garden is quickly waking up from its winter dormancy. Flowers blooming range from daffodils to freesias to pink tea trees and blue flowered rosemary bushes. Here are a few pics of my February garden.
Every winter while I am waiting for my garden to wake up from it’s dormancy I stop by the nursery thinking that they will have some colorful plants to brighten my garden blues. And every year the same plants catch my eye – cyclamen, pansies, ranunculus, and primrose. It’s the primrose that I gravitate towards as in comes in lovely shades of the rainbow.

This is a great book for some of us who are looking for creative ways to use plants in our home decor. With the upcoming winter months, what better time to add more greenery and plants in our homes for a natural calm inside our home when it’s too cold to get outside in nature.
