When I hosted this year’s garden party there were a lot of pretty cool and interesting cuisine. One of the goodies was ANZAC biscuits brought by my friend Susan. When Susan asked if she could bring ANZAC biscuits, I had never heard of these before and having grown up in Texas, when I think of biscuits I think of fluffy biscuits you have with butter and jam, or biscuits and gravy. Hitesh really likes to pick up these multi-colored cauliflowers from the local farmer’s market. They come in purple, orange, and yellow. I wasn’t sure how these cauliflowers would taste, would they taste the same as the white cauliflower? How do I cook it? What is the flavor?

I had a small group of friends over for a holiday tea a few months ago. I thought a simple tea would be a great way to get all of us together and catch up. Everyone offered to bring something, and we ended up with a wide variety of snacks and treats.
My friend Babita brought Black Bean Salsa and chips, and it was delicious. This salsa and chips dish is a perfect snack for a summertime get together. Especially when we can find juicy tomatoes and fresh corn at the farmer’s markets. I asked Babita for the recipe, and she said she got it from a web site called Show Me the Curry. Are you looking for a refreshing salad that is refreshingly simple? Try this avocado and grapefruit salad. I made this salad for a spring lunch I was invited to at my friend Rose’s home. It was a casual lunch just to get a few of us together. Rose had black bean soup and corn bread on the menu, and asked the rest of us to bring something that we felt would compliment it. Living in the Bay Area so close to Gilroy, you can’t help but grow to love garlic. Gilroy is the self proclaimed Garlic Capital of the world. That’s all they do here, grow garlic. In fact, when you drive past Gilroy you can smell garlic for a few miles as the garlic farms are in abundance here. To pay homage to it’s” bread and butter” crop, Gilroy hosts an annual Gilroy Garlic Festival in the summer where everything sold is made with garlic. They even sell their famous Garlic ice cream!
